The relationship between a manufacturers representative and the manufacturers they represent is a partnership. Manufacturers don’t have to make widgets. They may provide services or software.
In the best partnerships, there is respect. There is give and take. There is grace.
You can see this mutual respect when feedback is given and subsequently heeded. In the last few weeks, I have had multiple instances where I pointed out errors or suggested edits and was graciously received. They quickly acted on the suggestion and updated their material. And in return, I was given constructive feedback on my website.
I’ve never been so happy to be criticized! Why? Because it means that the factory is paying attention. They are not just plodding along assuming I am doing right. They are helping me do better. That is what we both need.
